I have completed the installation of Ikiwiki. It took me around 1 day to come up with an static installation and a css style that fits my mood.
I spent a long time looking for web publishing solutions. Here are some I searched for:
CMS engines I searched for my blog:
| Engine | What's wrong? | What's good? |
| Alfresco | Uses Mysql | Uses Freemarker |
| Bricolage | Uses PHP | Uses flat files |
| Rassmalog | Generation of files | Flat files, cohesive |
| pyblosxom | Bad docs | Good architecture |
| blosxom | Not very active | Time-tested, lots of plugins |
Ikiwiki is powerful because:
- Stores everything in text files that are easy to read.
- Versions for everything are stored in subversion.
- Generated static pages are secure and fast.
- You can do your blog, wiki and website with it!
